Ethiopian Yergacheffe

ORIGIN
DESCRIPTION
- This coffee is grown at the extreme altitude of 8,000
feet, making it a very slow growing,
Strictly
Hard Bean. Because of its slow growth, it is able to
absorb flavors from flowering shrubs around it, possibly
contributing to what is often described as a complex
floral aroma, with
winey
undertones.
We roast this coffee a shade darker than our usual
Viennese roast to bring out all the subtleties available. Most
would describe its' body as
FULL.
HISTORY
Ethiopia, so the story goes, is the birthplace of coffee.
Over a thousand years ago, a goat herder, possibly named Kaladi, noticed his normally
sedate flock frolicking hither and yon after eating berries
from a nearby bush. He tried a few berries himself, and was
amazed at the invigoration they produced. With the help of a local monk who
experimented with boiling the berries in water, the first cup
of coffee was created. The rest, as they say, is history!
